In Naruto and Boruto universe there are many types of Dojutsu or Eye Technique.
Eye powers were a huge part of Naruto. And since they look to play a big role in Boruto anime as well, now’s the perfect time to discuss Boruto’s Dojutsu. What Boruto Dojutsu can do and its power.
Boruto’s Dojutsu
The eye that Boruto possesses is known as the Jougan. This eye was able to help Boruto find the weakness of Nue, and even find a dimension point for teleportation from the realm of Nue back to Konoha.
The Jougan allows him to perceive the flow of chakra, and to see the visible changes in one’s chakra, and likewise track a target through their chakra. Also, view the invisible barriers between different dimensions just like Kaguya.
It is known as the “Pure Eye”.
Boruto’s eye power is not officially called the Jougan in the anime yet. The concept of jougan is a complete mystery, it is implied by Toneri to be something completely unique to Boruto connected to fate.
What is Jougan?
Boruto’s dojutsu is Jougan. A modified form of tensiegan. Almost nothing was known about the Jougan until one of the creators released some information via social media. A simple sketch of Boruto was released with something written at the bottom. It was later confirmed that this was the name of Boruto’s eye.
Boruto creators have yet to reveal why the kekkei genkai has been called the pure eye. Once the eye’s full powers have been revealed, perhaps the name will also be explained.
Boruto eye Jougan’s Powers
Boruto possesses the Jougen (pure eye) which is a form of the Tenseigan. We haven’t seen the power of Jougan at its full extent but it is believed that it’s more powerful than Tenseigan.
The Tenseigan abilities consist of allowing the user to control attractive and repulsive forces, while the Jogan abilities could identify the flow of chakra, enabling Boruto to see the noticeable changes in one’s chakra and likewise track a target through their chakra.
How did Boruto get his eye?
Jougan represents the pure Chakra originated from Hagoromo and Hamura’s combined power. Boruto inherited Jougan because of his bloodline from Hinata and Naruto, not because Toneri who is the descendant of Otsutsuki clan.
Kaguya Otsutsuki had two sons. One of her sons Hagoromo is the ancestor of Naruto. The other son Hamura was an ancestor of Hinata. Therefore, Boruto is descended from Kaguya through both of his parents. The Jougan may be a result of Boruto’s genetics. If so, it is possible that Boruto has inherited other powers through his Otsutsuki origin too.
Is Jougan stronger than Rinnegan?
This eye has only been wielded by Boruto Uzumaki so far, however, it is said to be an Otsutsuki clan Dojutsu. While the extent of its abilities hasn’t been revealed to us, we do know that it’ll be strong enough to rival the Otsutsuki power, which makes it comparable to the Rinnegan
Does Boruto have Byakugan
One of the animators of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations said, “Boruto’s eye was neither a Byakugan nor a Tenseigan, but officially called “Jōgan”.” He also explained that the eye is related to the Ōtsutsuki clan’s dimension and its powers are the dōjutsu equivalent of Naruto’s ability to sense negative emotions.” It’ has been cleared that Boruto’s eye is not Byakugan or anything closely related to Byakugan.
What’s the strongest eye in Boruto?
Rinnegan is the strongest eye from “Three Great Dojutsu”. Rinnegan is a rare power that only appears when someone receives chakra from the Otsutsuki Clan or their descendants or by combining Sharingan with Hashirama Cell.
As the Boruto anime story progresses, we will get to see more details about Boruto’s Jogan and its ability. Them we might be able to determine correctly if Jogan is more powerful than Rennegan.
Why does Boruto have the Jogan in one eye?
Boruto having Jogan in one eye may be because of chakra reserves limitation. With Sasuke we can state this theory too, he wouldn’t have the chakra reserves for a double rinnegan. Pain was an Uzumaki and you saw how it drained him of chakra.
