As we all know every animal has a unique ability to protect themselves from the predators, environment etc.But some of the animals had developed the ability similar to our favourite superhero characters.
So without any more delay here are 9 animals & bugs with SUPERHERO abilities!!!!!
#7 Hairy frog:
The 7th position goes to The hairy frog aka “THE WOLVERINE FROG”.
Its common name refers to the somewhat hair-like structures on the body and thighs of the breeding male.
The hairy frog is also notable in possessing retractable “claws” YEH CLAWWWWS (though unlike true claws, they are made of bone, not keratin),
which it may project through the skin, apparently by intentionally breaking the bones of the toe.
when the frog is grabbed or attacked, the frog breaks the nodule connection and forces its sharpened bones through the skin.
This is probably a defensive behavior. A retraction mechanism is not known,
it has been hypothesized that the claws later retract passively, while the damaged tissue is regenerated.(some how same as wolverine)
#6 Mantis shrimp
The contender for the 6th position is the MANTIS SHRIMP aka “THE ONE PUNCH MANTIS”.
The mantis shrimp’s second pair of front “HANDS” have been adapted for powerful close-range combat with high modifications.
The “HANDS” differences divide mantis shrimp into two main types:
those that hunt by impaling their prey with spear-like structures
and those that smash prey with a powerful blow from a heavily modified “HAND” type club.
A considerable amount of damage can be inflicted after impact with these robust, hammer-like “HANDS”.
This club is further divided into three sub-regions:
the impact region,
the periodic region,
and the striated region.
#5 THE IMMORTAL JELLYFISH
Saving her place at the 5th position is the IMMORTAL JELLYFISH (medusa) aka THE GROOT.
found in the Mediterranean Sea and in the waters of Japan.
It is one of the known cases of animals capable of reverting completely to a sexually immature,
colonial stage after having reached sexual maturity as a solitary individual.
The IMMORTAL JELLYFISH is the only form known to have developed the ability to return to a young state,
by a specific transformation process that requires the presence of certain cell types (tissue from both the jellyfish bell surface and the circulatory canal system).
This ability to reverse the biotic cycle (in response to adverse conditions) is unique in the animal kingdom and allows the jellyfish to bypass death,
that makes the jellyfish biologically immortal.
#4 THE MALAYSIAN EXPLODING ANT
Making his way at the 4th position here comes the MALAYSIAN EXPLODING ANT aka “THE NITRO“
Its defensive behaviors include self-destruction by autothysis( is the process where an animal destroys itself via an internal rupturing or explosion of an organ)
Two oversized, poison-filled mandibular(hook or claw-like structure in front of the mouth) glands run the entire length of the ant’s body.
When combat takes a turn for the worse, the worker ant violently contracts its abdominal muscles to rupture its gaster at the intersegmental fold,
which also bursts the mandibular glands, thereby spraying a sticky secretion in all directions from the anterior region of its head.
The glue, which also has corrosive properties and functions as a chemical irritant, can entangle and immobilize all nearby victims.
#3 THE MIMIC OCTOPUS
Defending its 3th position here comes THE MIMIC OCTOPUS aka “THE MYSTIQUE”
The mimic octopus is an Indo-Pacific species of octopus capable of impersonating other local species.
They are notable for being able to change their skin color and texture in order to blend in with their environments,
such as algae-encrusted rock and nearby coral through pigment sacs known as chromatophores.
The mimic octopus possesses chromatophores as well as the unique behavior of taking shape of various objects and animals.
The mimic octopus is the only marine animal , able to mimic such a wide variety of animals.
Many animals can imitate a different species to avoid or intimidate predators,
but the mimic octopus is the only one that can imitate as diverse a range of forms in order to elude(escape) predators.
#2 THE NAKED MOLE RAT
At the position of 2nd here comes the NAKED MOLE-RAT aka “Darr the Afflicter”
The naked mole-rat are eusocial (overlapping generations within a colony of adults,
And a division of labor into reproductive and non-reproductive groups) mammals,
the highest classification of sociality.
It has a highly unusual set of physical traits that enable it to thrive in an otherwise harsh underground environment,
It is the only mammalian thermoconformer(is the ability of an organism to keep its body temperature within certain boundaries,
even when the surrounding temperature is very different),
almost entirely ectothermic (cold-blooded) in how it regulates body temperature.
And the ability that gives him the place in this list is The mole rat lacks pain sensitivity in its skin.Means they cannot sense any pain in their skin and has very low metabolic and respiratory rate. The mole rat is also remarkable for its longevity and its resistance to cancer and oxygen deprivation.
#1 THE TARDIGRADE
Now for the climax here comes the king of our list THE TARDIGRADE aka THE “DARWIN“
Tardigrades ( also known as water bears, space bears, pudgy wudgies, or moss piglets) are water-dwelling, eight-legged, segmented micro-animals.
They have been found everywhere from mountain tops to the deep sea, mud volcanoes, and from tropical rain forests to the Antarctic.
Tardigrades are one of the most resilient animals, they can survive extreme conditions that would be rapidly fatal to all other known life forms.
They can withstand temperature ranges from 1 K (−458 °F; −272 °C) (close to absolute zero) to about 420 K (300 °F; 150 °C) for several minutes,
pressures about six times greater than those found in the deepest ocean trenches and,
ionizing radiation at doses hundreds of times higher than the lethal dose for a human, and the vacuum of outer space.
They can go without food or water for more than 30 years,
drying out to the point where they are 3% or less water, only to rehydrate, forage, and reproduce.
Tardigrades living in harsh conditions undergo an annual cycle of cyclomorphosis.
They are not considered extremophilic because they are not adapted to exploit these conditions.
This means that their chances of dying increase the longer they are exposed to the extreme environments.
whereas true extremophiles thrive in a physically or geochemicallyextreme environment that would harm most other organisms.
That clearly means that he is invincible and a bit of IMMORTAL Superhero
NOW, WE HAVE COME TO THE END OF THIS LIST …..
I HOPE YOU HAD FUN READING ….
